PAINESVILLE – A 23-year-old man from Willoughby was found guilty of nine counts in connection with the Sept. 25, 2025, shooting death of Damonte Perry at Fox Run Apartments in Willoughby, now called The Hamlets at Willoughby.
According to a press release from the Willoughby Police Department, six people were charged in connection with Perry’s killing.
During the investigation, Vance Triplett, 23, was initially charged with complicity to aggravated robbery, a 1st-degree felony; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a 4th-degree felony; carrying concealed weapons, a 4th-degree felony; and improperly furnishing a firearm to a minor, a 5th-degree felony.
Triplett was found guilty in the Lake County Court of Common Pleas on Friday, July 24, of complicity to aggravated robbery, two counts of complicity to felonious assault, evidence tampering, two counts of obstructing justice and improperly furnishing a firearm to minor.
Triplett is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday, Sept. 21, according to court records.
Antoine Graves and Shamar Steel, suspects in this case, remain in custody without bond pending trial.
On Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, Willoughby police responded to 1337 Fox Run Drive for a reported shooting just before 4 p.m., according to a department press release.
A 20-year-old man, later identified as Damonte Perry, 20, of Euclid, was transported to UH Lake West Medical Center, then later airlifted to UH Cleveland Medical Center, where he died of his wounds on Thursday, Sept. 18.
During the initial response, a male suspect was taken into custody. As the investigation progressed, multiple other suspects, including several juvenile suspects, were taken into custody.
