I recently found a New York news clipping from the late 1920s – early 1930s that told of a West Andover, Ohio, woman who had married a Chinese official and both were very active in the Chinese youth movement in America. How intriguing! I had never heard of the woman, Aimee Jett, and could not wait to search her name. What I found is nothing short of a movie script or a Ripley’s Believe it or Not story.
The story has so many subplots, twists and turns, that it will take two columns to tell the whole plot! But my search of anyone locally who has heard of Aimee Jett or any local public institution that might have some record has come to a dead end. I have talked with historians, librarians, and old timers and have come up to a dead end until this morning. I finally heard from someone who has moved from this area, but whose grandparents remember Aimee Jett and her memory of what they said verified what I have found online.
