The Edgewood Warriors boys’ basketball team won an exciting game over the Lakeside Dragons on Friday, Feb. 6. Edgewood won the game 58-54 to improve to 9-9 on the year.
Lakeside started fast as they built a 19-11 lead after one quarter of action.
Jarez Osborne and JJ Murphy each scored six points for the Dragons in the opening quarter.
Luis Flores added four points and Drequan Bradley added a three-pointer.
Logan Mezak and JJ Dufour each scored four points for the Warriors in the opening quarter.
The Warriors also got a basket from Deven Christine and a free throw from Paul Siler.
Edgewood shifted gears in the second quarter as they clamped down on defense and held the Dragons to only three points.
The Warriors outscored the Dragons 10-3 in the quarter to trim the lead to 22-21.
Jarez Osborne and David Pinson combined for the Dragons three points, which all came off of free throws.
Deven Christine paced the Warriors with seven of their ten points.
Zaiden Fox added a basket and Trenton Tallbacka chipped in a free throw.
Edgewood took control of the game in the third quarter as they outshot Lakeside 21-14 to lead 42-36 going into the final quarter.
Geno Measel and Logan Mezak each had good quarters for the Warriors with six points apiece.
JJ Dufour added five points, while Zar Triplin and Seveion Chapman each added a basket.
Drequan Bradley tried to keep Lakeside in the game with a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter. Luis Flores added five points and Osborne added three points.
Lakeside outscored Edgewood 18-16 in the final quarter, but fell 58-54. Flores had a big quarter for the Dragons with ten points to finish with a game high 19 points.
JJ Murphy added a pair of three-pointers to finish with 12 points. Bradley added a pair of free throws to finish in double digits with 11 points. Osborne also finished the game in double digits with 11 points.
Logan Mezak scored eight points for the Warriors in the final quarter to finish with a team high 18 points. JJ Dufour added six points to finish with 15 points.
Seveion Chapman scored the only other basket in the quarter for the Warriors.
