Just a month ago, when snow was still falling and the air was sharp with late winter wind, my team and I toured the memorial sites of our 18th President, Ulysses S. Grant, who served 1869-1877.
Born in a simple small white house in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, Grant would move a year later with his parents to nearby, Georgetown, where he would stay until he left for West Point Academy.
Just about everything in the berg of Mount Pleasant is named in Grant’s honor, from the church, boyhood home, memorial bridge, historical markers and the streets. After so much rain and melted snow, the Big Indian Creek was gorged with water and overflowing its banks into the small park where we stopped to take pictures.
