MENTOR – Wildwood Cultural Center was the site for book lovers once again, as the second Books in the Woods event took place this past Sunday, March 28.
“This event’s success is a prime example of what the Wildwood Cultural Center offers, which is the opportunity to showcase community art; whether visual, literature or theatrical, to the community in a positive and impactful way,” Heather Kovacic, said.
Over 950 guests swung by the grounds on an early spring afternoon from 12-4 p.m. Twenty different authors were in attendance, and over thirty vendors were spread across the historical manor for guests to interact with.
Talks and story readings were given by Wendy Fedan, a local children’s author and illustrator; Allison Kennedy, the author of The Hearts of Holt Saga; Pamela Ann Cleverly, who has written several murder mysteries and suspense novels including “A Beacon in the Dark,” “Bent Tree Cottage.” “King’s Trumpet” was read from “Stories from the Bean Table.”
All types of genres were represented, including spicy romance, such as the Gallo Siblings series by Krystal Kricket; historical books on many places in the area, such as Cleveland’s Little Italy and Historic Churches of Ashtabula; and children’s picture books, including the Tails of Charlotte series written by author Kristine Sheppard.
Wildwood Cultural Center is located at 7645 Little Mountain Road in Mentor and offers numerous events and programs throughout the year, including the upcoming Kids Day in May, Fine Arts and Wine Festival in June, and Wildwood Holiday Boutique at the end of November.
