JEFFERSON – It was a packed house at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Saturday evening, March 14, for the Jefferson Area Chamber of Commerce’s second annual reverse raffle event, with organizers citing a tentative $10,000 raised for chamber scholarships, events and overhead.
Shane Bryson, chamber president, said that as of this publication’s print deadline, the event had raised about $10,000, with a few invoices remaining to be tabulated.
“It was a really good turnout,” he said. “We try to get as many people as we can (to buy tickets).”
Bryson said one of the lessons learned from last year’s event was to start getting information out earlier, which meant tickets had sold out before the raffle on Saturday.
Funds raised at the raffle go toward scholarships and events, as well as helping with overhead for the Jefferson Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We couldn’t do it without the support of our local businesses and people,” Bryson said.
Guests a enjoyed a dinner catered by The Village Table, with drinks included, and had a chance to win a $2,000 main board prize, plus side boards, bingo, a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction.
“It’s always a fun time,” Bryson said.
