GENEVA – The “Zero Heroes” have a reason to rejoice.
These individuals – better known as the faithful customers of Robot Zero Comics in Geneva – were no doubt saddened when the comic book store had to close operations in Geneva after the roof of the building in which it was located blew off in high winds March 31.
But now they can be happy again as the store has opened in a new storefront at 24 N. Broadway in downtown Geneva, just around the corner from the old location on West Main Street.
Robot Zero Comics’ owner Tony Capo opened up for his first day of business in the new location on North Broadway May 27.
Capo said the new location has been “so far, so good” with a lot of the faithful customers showing up.
“I’m glad we were able to find somewhere else like literally around the corner from where we were,” Capo said.
Capo said he was approached by the building owner about moving into the new location on North Broadway.
Capo then agreed to take him up on the offer after learning that he wouldn’t be able to get back into his old location on West Main Street for six months or longer.
Two customers, Cory Witkoff-Poole and Juli Witkoff-Poole of Geneva-on-the-Lake, were shopping on opening day May 27. They gave the new space the thumbs up.
“I like it,” Cory said.
After the March 31st high-winds incident, Capo had moved his operations from Geneva to Comic Book City at 2601 Hubbard Rd., Madison, but that location is now closed.
Capo doesn’t yet know if his new location at 24 N. Broadway in Geneva will be temporary or permanent.
Robot Zero Comics is closed Mondays and Tuesdays and is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
