CONNEAUT – Raceway 7, the popular local dirt-oval racetrack, has begun its 2026 season.
Raceway 7 is 7/16-mile, semi-banked dirt oval track in Conneaut. Operating for over 50 years, it hosts stock car racing every Friday night from May through August. The track features several racing divisions, including UMP Modifieds, RUSH Late Models, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, Econo Modifieds and Mini Stocks.
Raceway 7 opened in the 1970s as a dirt oval in Conneaut. It has primarily operated on Friday nights for over five decades, establishing itself as a core venue for grassroots racing in the region.
During the ‘70s and ‘80s, the track hosted a variety of high-profile events, including the Late Model Invitational (1978) and multiple appearances by the All Star Circuit of Champions.
For much of its early history, the track ran on Saturday nights. In 1990, it shifted to Friday nights to avoid scheduling conflicts with nearby Sharon Speedway, a move that reportedly tripled its car counts.
The track faced a potential permanent closure in early 2009 due to family health issues of longtime owner Ron Neilson. It was saved when Terry Adams, operator of Lorain County Speedway, took over the facility via a lease-to-buy agreement.
For the current 2026 season, the track has undergone significant construction to reshape the oval, intended to improve racing conditions and safety.
Reviewers on Tripadvisor recommend bringing earplugs and goggles, as the track can get very dusty and loud during features.
The venue has wooden bleacher seating. Guests are permitted to bring small coolers. There are also popular concession items, such as fresh-cut fries and burgers. No alcohol is permitted to be brought in as it is sold on the grounds.
For standard Friday night events, the pits and gates typically open at 5:30 p.m., with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $15, pit entry is $30 and special events TBA.
