The Pymatuning Valley 8-10-year-old All-Star team defeated the visiting Painesville 8-10-year-old All-Stars on Wednesday, June 17.
William Hayes started on the mound for Pymatuning Valley. Hayes pitched three and two-thirds innings and gave up four runs, three earned, on three hits, four walks and nine strikeouts. Ryker Estergall pitched one and a third innings of relief and gave up no runs, while walking one.
Finn started on the mound for Painesville and pitched two innings. Finn gave up seven runs, five earned, on five hits, three walks and five strikeouts. Oscar pitched two and two-thirds innings of relief and gave up five runs, three earned, on five hits, four walks and six strikeouts. Michael also pitched in relief and allowed a walk.
Painesville started the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
However, Pymatuning Valley also jumped out of the gate early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-2 lead.
Pymatuning Valley pitching would keep Painesville off the board for the next two innings.
Pymatuning Valley then added an insurance run in the bottom of the second inning and three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 7-2 lead.
Painesville tried to battle back with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, trimming the lead to 7-4.
Pymatuning Valley went on to score five more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the game 12-4.
