ANDOVER – Coming up in March, the Pymatuning Area Chamber of Commerce will hold movie screenings as part of the Ohio Goes to the Movies program by the America 250 – Ohio organization.
Ohio Goes to the Movies is a statewide cinematic celebration that kicked off on Feb. 11, delivering more than 250 free movie events hosted by local venues in all 88 counties through October as part of Ohio’s official commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary.
This first-ever initiative showcases Ohio’s long-standing influence on American film, its nationally recognized actors and directors and the iconic movies filmed across the state.
The Pymatuning Area Chamber of Commerce will host two movie screenings.
“Each month has a different theme, and March is ‘movies and entertainment.’ It is focusing on movies about people from Ohio or movies that were made in Ohio. We are showing two and covering both of these aspects,” Chamber President Lara Reibold said.
On March 13 is “Inherit the Wind.” March 27 is “Engineering Tragedy,” about the Ashtabula Train Disaster.
Movies will take place at the Veterans Memorial Performing Arts Center at the Pymatuning Valley High School, with free admission. Doors open at 5 p.m. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m. Call Chamber at 440-293-5895 to register attendees.
“Inherit The Wind is about a famous attorney from Kinsman [who] began his career in Andover. The Ashtabula Train Disaster has many local people featured in it and was filmed locally. Both will be free. Both will have a speaker at 6 p.m., and movies will start at 6:30 p.m.,” Reibold said.
The full calendar of events is now available at OhioGoesToTheMovies.org and will continue to be updated throughout the celebration.
