ORWELL – Orwell Pantry, the popular Amish-owned deli at the village center, will be shutting its doors for good on Saturday, Aug. 1.
Melinda Detweiler, who has owned Orwell Pantry for the past four or five years – she was not certain – said the decision to close the shop was owing to personal matters that required her attention and wouldn’t leave her the time to run the deli.
The Pantry was open for about 15 years before Detweiler took it over. The shop was well known and loved in the Orwell area for its ready-to-eat subs, donuts and fried pies.
The entire stock is 10-percent off until Aug. 1.
Orwell Pantry is an Amish-owned deli and bulk food store located at 14 N. Maple St. in Orwell. It specializes in fresh deli lunchmeats, specialty cheeses, ready-to-eat subs, medicinal teas, kitchen accessories and bulk baking supplies – sugar, salt, flour, etc.
Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Closed Sunday.
