JEFFERSON – People driving in downtown Jefferson recently likely have noticed new signage at Ashtabula County-owned properties.
The new signs, which are white-and-blue in color and feature the County “A” branding and the name and address of the properties, are part of a County signage project centered around the Courthouse Complex.
For example, one of the signs is at the Ashtabula County Campus at 25 W. Jefferson St., listing the complex as home to the “County Government Bldg.,” “Old Courthouse” and “Prosecutor’s Office.”
Next door, at 35 W. Jefferson St., the sign highlights that building being home to the Center for Economic Development.
Another sign sits in the parking lot across from the Ashtabula County Board of Elections Office highlighting parking for the Ashtabula County Annex.
“There are several [signs] going up around the campus on the exterior, and this is happening in tandem with updated signage on the interior of the buildings as well,” explained Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners President Casey Kozlowski.
The signs are intended to augment wayfinding at Ashtabula County local government properties.
“Over the last several years we have received numerous complaints from visitors to the campus of them not knowing where to go to tend their County business. We have multiple buildings on our campus and we are very much spread out, so it can be difficult to find where to go,” Kozlowski said. “This effort will help with wayfinding and make it much easier to find the appropriate County offices when taking care of County business.”
Kozlowski said the project has been a few years in the making.
“More signage will be going up once the new Public Safety Center goes up as well,” Kozlowski said.
