The Grand Valley Mustangs boys’ basketball team picked up a 63-53 home win over the visiting Pymatuning Valley Lakers on Friday, Dec. 12.
Grand Valley started fast as they raced out to a 22-7 first quarter lead. Solomon Shultz led the way for the Mustangs with six points. Carter Turk added five points in the opening quarter.
Evan Skrtic added four points, Anthony Eason hit on a three-pointer, and Cooper Plizga and Payton Plizga each added two points.
Justin Britton led the Lakers with four of their seven points in the first quarter. Andrew Wludyga added the only other basket and Alex Simon chipped in a free throw.
The two teams would play an even second quarter as both teams put up 15 points. Grand Valley would go into halftime up 37-22.
Carter Turk led Grand Valley in the second quarter with eight points. Anthony Eason and Solomon Shultz each knocked down a three-pointer and Liam Hart added a free throw.
Chase Guysinger led the Lakers with six points in the second quarter. Justin Britton added four points, Noah Dubic added a basket and William Baugher made a free throw.
Grand Valley added to their lead in the third quarter by outscoring Pymatuning Valley 17-10 to lead 55-32 going into the fourth quarter. Carter Turk continued to lead the mustangs with ten points.
Payton Plizga also had a solid quarter with five points and Evan Skrtic added the other basket.
Justin Britton added a pair of three-pointers for the Lakers.
Chase Guysinger and Noah Dubic each added a basket.
The Lakers went on to outscore the Mustangs 21-9 in the fourth quarter, with the game already in hand for Grand Valley.
The Mustangs would still win the game by double-digits despite the big quarter by the Lakers.
Justin Britton added ten more points for the Lakers to finish with a team high 24 points.
Chase Guysinger added six points for 14 total points.
Noah Dubic, William Baugher and Andrew Wludyga combined for the remaining five points in the quarter.
Evan Skrtic led the Mustangs with four points in the quarter to finish with ten points.
Carter Turk knocked down three of four free throws to finish with a game high 26 points.
Cooper Plizga added the only other basket in the fourth quarter for Grand Valley.
