PAINESVILLE – Michael Sukalac of Mentor was recently honored as Lake County Treasurer of the Day, spending time immersed in the operations of local government.
During his special day, Sukalac visited several county offices, including the treasurer’s office, auditor’s office, prosecutor’s office and the board of elections.
He had the opportunity to learn firsthand how local government functions and serves the community.
Lake County Treasurer Michael Zuren praised the young man’s engagement.
“Michael was an outstanding student treasurer; he had lots of questions and concerns about his local community,” he said. “A graduate of Mentor High School, Sukalac is well known and respected in the community for his enthusiasm, work ethic and many accomplishments. He is an active baseball player with the Miracle League Team Tigers, a member of the Deepwood Dancers and a recent gold medal winner at the Special Olympics held at Ohio State University.”
Michael is also involved with the Aktion Club at Deepwood and maintains employment at Laketran as well as The Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe.
“His selection as Treasurer of the Day highlights not only his interest in civics and local government but also his dedication to being an active and caring member of the Lake County community,” Zuren said.
