HARTSGROVE TOWNSHIP – A longstanding and popular holiday event is returning to the Circle in Hartsgrove Township on Saturday, Nov. 29, when Light the Circle and Lighted Power Parade kick off the Christmas season.
The parade steps off at 6 p.m. and runs around the Hartsgrove Circle.
Terry Chapman, one of the event organizers, said visitors to the Circle should come in early, as the roads into Hartsgrove Center will be closed beginning at 5:50 p.m. until the parade concludes.
The parade features tractors, trucks and whatever other power vehicles people choose to drive down, decorated with Christmas lights and riding around the Circle for children and families in Hartsgrove to enjoy.
“Lighted tractors, light trucks – I’ve seen it all,” Chapman said.
Following the parade, a lighting ceremony will take place in the town center, with all of the Christmas lights and decorations lit up for the season to celebrate the holidays.
The parade will bring Santa Claus to town. Santa will make his way to the old schoolhouse in the northwest corner of the Circle by the Country Quilt Shack, for children to visit, share their Christmas wishes, and get a photo with Saint Nick. Families visiting the schoolhouse can enjoy hot chocolate, coffee and cookies while they’re there.
“Usually, he’s brought in on a lighted train,” Chapman said.
This year will be the third year for the power parade, with Chapman adding the Power Parade has kept the event growing and growing.
“All are welcome to enjoy the parade,” he said.
With the popularity of the event, Chapman recommended people arrive early to the event.
Light the Circle and Lighted Power Parade is free to everyone, but donations will be accepted to help the event grow more each year.
Chapman said drivers in the parade must attend a mandatory parade meeting at 5:45 p.m. to go over rules and procedures.
