LEROY TOWNSHIP – Leroy Township Day, a beloved tradition in the small, rural Lake County community, will be returning to the Community Center on Saturday, June 27.
Attractions include music, food trucks and lots of family and kids’ entertainment, a parade, car cruise and tractor show, and more.
Leroy Township Day marks the return of a large-scale celebration to the community for the first time since 2022. It marks the fifth anniversary since the township’s delayed bicentennial in 2021.
Brandy Hanusosky, recreation board president for the township, said the Bicentennial +1 celebration was quite popular and residents wanted to see it become a regular annual event.
The Bicentennial +1 was the result of the township’s actual 200th anniversary taking place during the summer 2020 COVID-19 lockdown period.
However, Hanusosky said the pool of volunteers that had started at about 25 for Bicentennial +1 celebration shrank to about six by the following year’s Leroy Township Day.
“So, we switched to the summer concert,” she said. “We told them we could do a big celebration every five years – and it’s been five years since the bicentennial.”
Leroy Township Day 2026 will kick off with a parade at 3 p.m. traveling from Celizic Lane to State Route 86, west on 86 to the roundabout, then east on Leroy-Center Road back to the festival grounds at the Community Center, 13028 Leroy-Center Road.
There will be a colors ceremony at the pavilion, the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and a reading of the names of Revolutionary War veterans buried in Leroy Township.
Leroy Township Day will feature food trucks, a DJ, kids’ games and entertainment, wagon rides, a car cruise and tractor show, the Euclid Beach Rocket Car and a performance by InCahootz from 6-9 p.m. – with the whole day capped off with a fireworks show at dusk.
Participants in the parade can be part of the car cruise or tractor show. The first 50 participants in the car cruise receive a dash plaque.
