The Pymatuning Valley Lakers football team dropped its Division V football game to the St. Clairsville Red Devils on Friday, Oct. 31. The Red Devils won the game 35-13 to improve to 8-3. St. Clairsville will now face Garrettsville Garfield in round two.
Pymatuning Valley started the game with a defensive play as Stuart Jenick forced a fumble that was recovered by Alex Simon.
However, the Red Devils were also up to the task on defense for a quick stop.
Ollie Muhly capped the Red Devils next drive with a two-yard touchdown run. Parker Galloway added the extra point, making it 7-0.
The Lakers would come up short on their next drive.
Jenick came up big for the Lakers again to force a turnover.
The Red Devils got back on the board early in the second quarter on a 17-yard pass from Sam McLean to Muhly. The extra point by Galloway, made it 14-0.
Muhly put the Red Devils up 21-0 midway through the third quarter with a 4-yard run.
Jayce Fulkman helped spark the Lakers on their next drive with a 21-yard run.
Britton then found Sean Croston for a 10-yard touchdown to put the Lakers on the board.
Paddy Ferrie hit on the extra point, making it 21-7.
Pymatuning Valley had a promising scoring drive come up short on an interception by Eligha Hill in the third quarter.
McLean added a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Starks, making it 28-7.
McLean also found Niko Jacob for a 39-yard touchdown, upping the score to 35-7.
Britton capped the Laker’s next drive with a five-yard touchdown pass to Will Baugher, making it 35-13.
Pymatuning Valley ended its season at 7-4.
