ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP – Ashtabula Township has now joined the list of 3,262 Jersey Mike’s Subs locations in the United States.
On Jan. 13, the Greater Ashtabula Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the new Jersey Mike’s Subs location at 3236 N. Ridge Rd. E. in the township.
Jenny Luhta, who represented the Chamber at the event, said the Chamber looked forward to “many, many years of fun things” with Jersey Mike’s.
“We are really, really thrilled to be here in Ashtabula,” Aaron Rosenstein, the co-founder of Cedartown Foods, said.
He noted that it was Cedartown’s 12th Jersey Mike’s.
“We hope to be here in Ashtabula for many, many years, and community is very important to us at Cedartown and to the Jersey Mike’s brand overall,” he said.
He was excited to kick off a community involvement fundraiser with Edgewood High School.
From Wednesday, Jan. 14, through Sunday, Jan. 18, the fundraiser was held to support the Edgewood High School Athletic Department.
Customers who received a fundraising coupon could make a minimum $3 contribution to Edgewood High School Athletic Department and receive a free regular sub.
It resulted in a considerable amount for Edgewood.
On Jan. 20, John Whitten, marketing director for Cedartown Foods, said he was happy to announce that $5,221 was raised through the Edgewood High School fundraiser.
He called it “a great outcome for the school and the community.”
“This is so fantastic,” Edgewood Superintendent Patrick Colucci, who attended the ribbon cutting, said. He thought it was going to be a great partnership.
Rosenstein noted the investment that had been put into the Ashtabula Jersey Mike’s location.
“We’ve invested over a half million dollars in building this store and hired just about 50 people, so we’re thrilled to be part of building the economy here in Ashtabula,” he said.
He thanked everyone who attended. That included Ashtabula County Sheriff William R. Niemi and law-enforcement officers of the sheriff’s office who were present.
“Thank you to everyone here in uniform,” Rosenstein said, acknowledging the sheriff’s office representatives. “We appreciate your service.”
Jersey Mike’s shows its gratitude to those in uniform with a first responder discount “to show appreciation for the brave men and women who serve our communities,” according to the Jersey Mike’s website.
Rosenstein also gave a “huge thank you” to the team at the Jersey Mike’s location.
In addition to Colucci and the sheriff’s office, athletes from Edgewood as well as Ashtabula Township Trustee Joe Pete were in attendance.
According to a news release, “Jersey Mike’s premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot and piled high on in-store baked bread. Jersey Mike’s fans crave their subs made Mike’s Way® with the freshest vegetables – onions, lettuce and tomatoes – topped off with an exquisite zing of ‘the juice,’ red wine vinegar and an olive oil blend.” The news release notes that Jersey Mike’s authentic cheesesteaks are grilled fresh.
