SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP – Hunting permits are now available on the Ashtabula County Metroparks website, with applications being accepted from Ashtabula County residents first.
According to information shared by Ashtabula County Metroparks Administrative Clerk Paula Peterson, hunting permits will be available on the Metroparks’ website, www.ashtabulametroparks.com, or by using the link https://www.ashtabulametroparks.com/hunting.
Hunters will be able to submit forms and then will receive the approved permit through the Metroparks hunting email address, hunting@ashtabulametroparks.com.
This year, the Metroparks will be accepting Ashtabula County residents’ applications first from July 11 – Aug. 14, according to information shared by Peterson.
After Aug. 14, the Metroparks will open the permit process to out-of-county and out-of-state hunters also.
The Metroparks also will again hold in-person hunting permit nights this year at the park office at Red Brook Metropark, 4338 Lake Rd. W., Ashtabula, OH 44004.
Hunters also can come to the office if they run into an issue with the permit.
In-person hunting permit nights will be 4-7 p.m. July 22 for in-county residents and 4-7 p.m. Aug. 19 and Aug. 26, open to everyone.

The Ashtabula County Metroparks is open to hunting at the following parks and during the following hunting seasons:
Turkey Creek
• Deer Hunting – Archery & Shotgun, Muzzleloader & Youth Season
• Turkey Hunting – Spring and Fall including Youth Season
• Small game, Squirrel, Rabbit, Grouse, Duck and Coyote
Buccaneer
• Deer Hunting – Archery, Shotgun & Muzzleloader & Youth Season (park trails will be closed to public during shotgun, Youth Season & Muzzleloader). A hunting permit allows you access during those times.
• Turkey Hunting – Spring and Fall, including Youth Season
Friends of Conneaut Creek
• Archery Hunting only – Deer & Turkey
Hatches Corner
• Deer Hunting – Archery, Shotgun, Muzzleloader & Youth Season (park trails will be closed to public during shotgun, Youth Season & Muzzleloader). A hunting permit allows you access during those times.
• Turkey Hunting – Spring and Fall, including Youth Season
Lampson Reservoir
• Deer & Turkey – Archery only
Greenway
• No hunting on the greenway
• Allow hunters to access properties they have permission to hunt with firearms unloaded
Gateway Property
• Deer & Turkey – Archery Only
