The St. John Heralds girls’ basketball team picked up a recent 40-25 road win over the Jefferson Falcons. The Heralds outshot Jefferson 8-6 in the opening quarter. Alexa Jordan scored five of the Heralds eight points, including a three-pointer. Riley Hatfield added the other three points for St. John. Jefferson received four of their six points from Morgan Van Gieson. Dani Furman scored the only other basket for the Falcons.
The Heralds went on to double up the Falcons 13-6 in the second quarter to lead 21-12 going into halftime. Hatfield paced the Heralds with five more points. Marissa Williams added four points, while Izzy Holler and Milani Johnson each chipped in a basket. Leah Valenti knocked down a three-pointer for Jefferson and Morgan Van Gieson provided the other three-pointers.
The scoring slowed down even more in the third quarter as St. John outshot Jefferson 7-6 to lead 28-18 going into the fourth quarter. Alexa Jordan hit on a three-pointer for the Heralds. Izzy Holler and Milani Johnson each added a basket for the second quarter in a row.
St. John pulled away even more in the fourth quarter as they outscored Jefferson 12-7 to win 40-25. Riley Hatfield scored four points for the Heralds to finish with a team high 12 points. Marissa Williams added a three-pointer to finish with seven points. Izzy Holler made three free throws in the quarter and finished with seven points. Selena Park added the remaining two points in the quarter for St. John. Alyvia Graham knocked down a late three-pointer for the Falcons. Claire Riley and Braelyn Heistermann combined for the remaining four points.
