ORWELL – Anita Balascio, owner of DJ’s Dugout Sports Club, was sworn in as the newest board member of the Grand Valley Area Chamber of Commerce in a special meeting called Tuesday evening, Jan. 6, to accommodate her schedule.
She will be stepping into the 2nd vice president position, taking over from Kelly Wajda of Middlefield Bank.
Balascio is the owner of DJ’s Dugout Sports Club east of Orwell Village on U.S. Route 322, at the site of the former Carol’s Creekside Inn. She took over the building May 1, 2024 and completely renovated the space.
Since reopening, she said she’s tried to give DJ’s Dugout a family-friendly vibe – similar to BW3 – during the daytime hours, often hosting events for children and families. When the sun goes down, she said it’s still very much an adult space.
Balascio said she looks forward to helping to organize the Grand Valley Summer Festival, the summer concert series and the Grand Valley Christmas Festival alongside the other board members.
