GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE – The Village of Geneva-on-the-Lake will be getting a sandy beach for people to enjoy.
Village Administrator Alex Iarocci confirmed the announcement about the future beach that was recently made on the Village’s Facebook page.
“Over 5,200 tons of stone will be used to construct three offshore breakwaters and over 11,600 cubic yards of sand will be used for the beach,” Iarocci said in an email when asked for comment by the Gazette.
According to Iarocci, the creation of the beach is part of the village’s shoreline erosion mitigation project funded through the Appalachian Community Grant and state capital budget funds.
“The project is designed to bolster the existing revetment and create a 500-foot wide sandy beach for public access,” he said.
Iarocci said staging is set to start within the next week and construction is expected to begin in July.
The Village’s announcement drew a big response on Facebook, garnering 1,300 positive reactions as of Friday, June 12.
Scott Stutz wrote that it was going to be a great addition for Geneva-on-the-Lake.
He said the lake home owners wanted to extend a congratulations to the mayor of the village and his team “for the hard legal work to bring this beach to reality.”

Della Fox said, “How exciting and about time to have beach area at the park! I remember in the ’60s and the beautiful beach area and cars parked around the park. So many wonderful memories and fun time at the beach. Excited and great news.”
