GENEVA – The Geneva Area City School District will hold its final Community Needs Assessment Listening Session regarding its planned Family Resource Center.
Open to the community, the meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Geneva High School Media Center.
“On Feb. 12 we will be holding our final community meeting,” district Superintendent Dr. Paul Lombardo said. “We had four attendees at our last meeting on Feb. 3. During that session, we discussed strengths and barriers, and our consultants collected the information and will be preparing a comprehensive report, which I will reference at our next Board meeting. He has talked with 100-plus staff, students, and community members which results will be in the report.”
According to Lombardo, the school district is in the beginning stages of the process to establish the Family Resource Center to better support the district’s students and families.
“A critical first step in this work is conducting a comprehensive needs assessment to understand the real, day-to-day challenges facing our families and the resources that would be most meaningful and effective,” he said.
Under the district’s plan, “The House on the Hill,” which is located above Geneva High School, will be transformed into the Family Resource Center.
As part of the project, the board approved an agreement between Anchor Point Strategies, LLC and the school board. Lombardo said the company was going to first do the needs assessment to see what the community’s needs are.
“And based on the needs of the community, we will provide medical and social emotional needs to all community, students, staff and their families,” he said.
