The Jefferson Falcons baseball team were unable to hold off a late rally from the Norton Panthers in a recent district championship game.
Jefferson held a 4-1 lead through the top of the fifth inning. However, Norton rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the game 6-4.
Norton struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Jefferson took the lead in the top of the third inning with three runs to go up 3-1.
Jefferson added to their lead with a run in the top of the fifth inning, making it 4-1. Norton turned the game around with five of their six runs coming in the fifth inning to win 6-4.
Joey Sand started on the mound for Jefferson and pitched four innings. Sands gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits, one walk and six strikeouts.
Dylan Myllymaki gave up one run on one hit in relief.
Lucas Uden also pitched two innings of relief and gave up two runs on three hits and two walks.
Jackson Lewis started on the mound for Norton and pitched three innings. Lewis gave up three runs on three hits, four walks and four strikeouts.
Ronnie Ammons pitched four innings of relief and gave up one run on two walks and five strikeouts.
