The Geneva Eagles softball team defeated the visiting Conneaut Spartans 15-0 on Monday, March 30. Geneva scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and six runs in the fourth inning to win in five innings 15-0.
Conneaut was held scoreless for all five innings with only one hit.
Bella Young had the only hit in the game for Conneaut.
Vina Sanford and Grace Todaro each drew a walk for the Spartans in the loss.
Geneva pounded out nine hits as a team, but were also selective at the plate with ten walks.
Stats for Geneva included: Kailyn Cerjan one hit, one walk and two runs scored; Caidyn Siegel one hit, one walk, three runs batted in and three runs scored; Addie Sheppard two walks and two runs scored; Gianna Markijohn two hits, one walk and three runs batted in; Cora Brace one walk and one run scored; Sophie Acord one walk, one run batted in and one run scored; Ella Walker one hit, one walk, one run batted in and one run scored; Claire Cafaro one hit, one walk and one run scored; Morgan Hunt one hit, one run batted in and two runs scored; Alyvia DeGroodt two hits, one run batted in and two runs scored and Hailey Craine one walk and one run scored.
Morgan Hunt pitched five shutout innings for the Eagles allowing only one hit and two walks, while striking out ten.
Batting for the Spartans were: Maddy Drew, Vina Sanford, Lexie Colucci, Bella Young, Chloe Boyle, Avery O’Brien, Chloe Jones, Cassie Redding, Rylee Mooney and Grace Todaro.
Bella Young pitched the majority of the game for the Spartans, with Chloe Boyle pitching in relief.
