The Geneva Eagles girls’ basketball team picked up an exciting win over the Cornerstone Christian Patriots on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Geneva won the game 61-50 to improve to 11-6 on the season.
Geneva outscored Cornerstone 18-14 in the opening quarter. Elli Burns and Tahkyah Myers each scored four points in the opening quarter for the Eagles. Giavanna Bobish and Isabel Stoker each knocked down a three-pointer for Geneva. The Eagles also got two points from Jayla Reigert and Cali Boland.
Riley McPeek scored six points for the Patriots in the opening quarter. Kam O’Leary and Alyssa Mason each added four points.
The Eagles kept up the pace in the second quarter as they outshot Cornerstone Christian 16-12 to take a 34-26 halftime lead. Cali Boland had a solid quarter for the Eagles with six points. Tahkyah Myers added four points for Geneva in the second quarter, while Isabel Stocker, Elli Burns, and Ella Walker each scored two points.
The scoring slowed down in the third quarter as Cornerstone outscored Geneva 11-7 to cut the deficit to 41-37.
Riley McPeek added six more points for the Patriots. Kam O’Leary added a three-pointer for the Patriots, while Alyssa Mason added a bucket. Giavanna Bobish led the Eagles with all seven of their points in the third quarter, including a three-pointer.
Geneva regained control of the game in the fourth quarter as they outshot Cornerstone Christian 20-13 to win 61-50. Bobish led the Eagles once again with seven points in the fourth quarter to finish with a game high 17 points.
Tahkyah Myers added four points to finish in double-digits with `2 points. Cali Boland chipped in three points to also finish in double-digits with 11 points. Isabel Stocker and Elli Burns each added a three-pointer for the Eagles. Alyssa Mason led the Patriots with six of their 13 points in the fourth quarter to finish with 15 points. Riley McPeek added four points to finish with a team high 16 points. Kam O’Leary also hit on a three-pointer for the Patriots to finish with 13 points.
