The Canfield 50/70 all-stars were able to advance in tournament play with a 5-2 win over the Geneva Eagles 50/70 all-stars.
Geneva was able to score first as they took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Canfield answered with two runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Canfield would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way as they went on to score two more runs in the top of the fourth inning, making it 3-1.
Geneva scored their final run in the bottom of the fourth inning, making it 4-2.
Canfield tacked on one more run in the top of the sixth inning to win 5-2.
Aris Garrett and Rocco Turk each homered in the win for Canfield.
Louis Coleman started on the mound for Canfield and pitched five and one-third innings. Coleman allowed two unearned runs on two hits, five walks and 12 strikeouts.
Rocco Turk pitched one inning and gave up no runs on one hit, one walk and one strikeout. Cooper Walters pitched the final two outs and gave up no runs on one hit and two strikeouts.
Paul McLeod started for Geneva and pitched five and two-thirds innings. McLeod gave up five runs on eight hits and five strikeouts. Noah Crites pitched one and one-third innings of relief and allowed no baserunners, while striking out two.
