MIDDLEFIELD – The Build and Fly team’s efforts at this year’s Experimental Aircraft Association’s Learn to Fly Week have paid off.
It was a perfect maiden flight.
“The plane looks and flies great!” Sherry Niederkorn with EAA Chapter 5 said. “Leo Carlson, Janna Winningham and Ben Johnson took the controls as they put this year’s project through its paces.”
The Experimental Aircraft Association’s Learn to Fly Week runs from May 11-16.
Established to inspire future pilots, the annual initiative includes expanded webinars with new topics to present to participants of all ages.
As part of the connection, students learn about flight training opportunities at local airports in their area.
They can even take a free introductory Eagle Flight under the EAA program that connects prospective pilots with aviation resources that could help bring their dream of flight to reality, even if only for the invaluable experience of handling the controls for the first time.
Eagle flights are given to those who participate in the Flying Start event.
The week concludes on Sunday, May 17, with the Flying Start event held by the EAA Chapter 5 at the Geauga County Airport in Middlefield.
