ASHTABULA – The Ashtabula County Land Bank is hosting the first open house for the homes in the Welcome Home Ohio program. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday, July 19th, at 3835 Station Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004. Program managers will be on site to give tours and answer questions about the program.
The 3-bedroom, 2-bath home will feature energy-efficient appliances and a one-car attached garage. The first three homes of the program are currently under construction.
As the home is still under construction, visitors are advised to be cautious when entering and exiting, stay on paved walkways, and be courteous to neighbors.
“This is a chance for first-time homebuyers to visualize themselves in the space, and get a true sense of what homeownership can feel like. We are so excited for the first families to take advantage of this program,” Jordan Torrence, director of the Ashtabula County Land Bank, said.
These homes are funded by the Welcome Home Ohio Grant from the State of Ohio Department of Development. The project is a collaboration between the Ashtabula County Land Bank and Community Building Partners (CBP), a Columbus based mission driven developer.
Participants must be pre-approved for a mortgage, and meet program requirements, including income eligibility and completing a financial literacy course. Applications are open now and are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
