JEFFERSON – The Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners has announced a public meeting to review and discuss proposed amendments to the Residential and Commercial Properties Fee Schedule for the Ashtabula County Department of Building Regulations, including the addition of plumbing inspection services.
The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Ashtabula County Commissioners’ meeting room.
The proposed amendments follow action taken on Sept. 23, 2025, when the Board of Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2025-404, authorizing a contract with the Ashtabula County Health District Board for the County Building Department to assume plumbing inspection services for both residential and commercial properties.
Chief Building Official Thomas Congdon has recommended updates to the existing fee schedule to reflect the addition of plumbing inspection services, as well as the inclusion of new residential and commercial resubmittal and revision fees. These changes are intended to ensure that the fee structure accurately reflects the services now provided by the Department of Building Regulations.
Prior to the public meeting, members of the Board of Commissioners attended a Builders Association meeting on Jan. 8, 2026, where the proposed fee adjustments were discussed with industry stakeholders.
The Jan. 13th meeting will provide members of the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed amendments before the Board considers adoption of a resolution approving the updated fee schedule.
If approved, the amended fee schedule would take effect on Feb. 1, 2026, and remain in effect until further action by the Board of Commissioners.
