ANDOVER – It’s been a long and winding road for Viki Allin and Catherine Sweeney, but the co-market masters have plowed ahead with the Andover Community Farmers Market.
Allin and Sweeney are pleased to announce the market has found sponsorship.
“We want to thank Healthy Roots Community for sponsoring the Andover Community Farmers Market,” the duo posted. “They are providing the insurance for the Market and along with OSU-Extension have really helped us get off the ground. Both of these organizations are now working hard to make it so we can accept SNAP, WIC and the Senior Nutrition Program!”
“We also want to thank the surrounding farmers markets for their unwavering support,” the post continued.
Andover Community Farmers Market is located on the Square and will be open every Friday from July 10 through Oct. 2 from 2-7 p.m.
Lillie Road Farm, Triple C Farm Market, 8 Paw Fur Boy and Ebenezer Stone Acres will participate in the Andover Farmers Market each week. Others who will participate at different times include Andover Public Library, Conneaut Arts Center, Nita’s Farm Fresh Café, Traveler’s Coffee Company, Triple C Farm Market and McCusker Farm.
Allin and Sweeney have sought vendors who sell a variety of food products including honey, eggs, maple syrup, mushrooms, flowers, fruits, vegetables, cheeses and frozen meats that they’ve grown or produced on their own farms.
“The market is farmer-centric,” Allin said. “This means it is not a craft show. This will be a farmers’ market. Vendors must grow their own produce in order to sell at the market. Farmers can have value-added products to sell, but it must be less than 50 percent of their table, so a farmer that has produce can also sell baked goods.”
The vendor schedule for July includes July 10 – Lillie Road Farm, Triple C Farm Market, McCusker Farm, Ebenezer Stone Acres and Traveler’s Coffee Co.; July 17 – Lillie Road Farm, Triple C Farm Market, McCusker Farm, Ebenezer Stone Acres, Conneaut Arts Center and Nita’s Farm Fresh Café; July 24 – Lillie Road Farm, Triple C Farm Market, McCusker Farm, Ebenezer Stone Acres, Traveler’s Coffee Co. and Nita’s Farm Fresh Café; and July 31 – Lillie Road Farm, Triple C Farm Market, McCusker Farm, Ebenezer Stone Acres, Nita’s Farm Fresh Café and The Petal Post.
Andover Public Library will offer a bean plant activity for kids, and the Conneaut Arts Center will offer a customizable market-themed creative activity.
Ebenezer Stone Acres is a small family homestead in Jefferson that’s run on principles of permaculture and lazy gardening. The farm sells eggs, jellies and baked goods roadside.
Lillie Road Farm is a family-owned and operated cut flower farm in Ashtabula.
Nita’s Farm Fresh Cafe is a mobile food trailer where the farm meets the kitchen. It offers a fresh, locally-sourced menu.
Triple C Farm Market offers farm-raised beef, chicken, turkey and pork free of all steroids and antibiotics; brown eggs; maple syrup; fresh vegetables and herbs in season. Meat, eggs and maple syrup are available year-round and summer produce is available at a roadside stand.
McCusker Farm offers beeswax cloths, duck eggs and more.
