JEFFERSON – The America 250 – Ashtabula County Committee is inviting residents, organizations, businesses, and community groups to be part of a once-in-a-generation event as parade entries are now open for the America 250 – Ashtabula County’s Grand Parade of History, taking place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at noon in Jefferson.
This signature event will commemorate both Ashtabula County’s rich local heritage and the 250th Anniversary of the United States—the Semiquincentennial. Organizers are seeking a wide variety of parade participants, including floats, marching groups, bands, civic organizations, businesses, churches, schools, car shows and specialty units to help bring this historic celebration to life.
“This parade is a centerpiece of our countywide celebration, and we are encouraging participation from every corner of Ashtabula County,” said the America 250 Committee. “We want to showcase the pride, creativity, and spirit of our communities, and we’re encouraging groups to choose a moment in history and reflect that time through their float or parade entry.”
Parade Details & Participation Information
• Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
• Time: Noon
• Line-Up Location: Jefferson Area High School
• Route Access: All parade units must enter via Mulberry Street and check in at the intersection of Mulberry & Poplar Streets. Unit numbers and additional instructions will be provided to participants in advance of the event.
Parking & Access:
• Float riders and walkers must park at the Jefferson Board of Education Building (or designated area) and walk to their unit
• Equestrian units will park and unload at Jefferson Elementary School
• For safety, no vehicles will be permitted on Falcon Way unless part of the parade
Community Engagement Opportunity
As part of the celebration, parade participants will also be invited to help judge homes and businesses along the parade route that are decorated in an Americana theme, adding an interactive and festive element to the day. The winning home and business will be recognized during the festival, and their recognition will also be included in the event time capsule for future generations.
Awards & Recognition
A “Crowd Favorite” award will be presented to a parade entry, encouraging participants to bring their most creative and patriotic displays.

Participation is supported through donations to the America 250 celebration. Contributions are tax-deductible through the Covered Bridge Festival, a 501(c)(3) organization serving as the event’s fiscal agent.

The Grand Parade of History is part of a larger, day-long festival planned for July 4, 2026, at Giddings Park in Jefferson, featuring live music, historical reenactments, family activities, artisan vendors, food trucks, and fireworks.
