ASHTABULA – The ACCOA Center for Active Living, in partnership with the Ashtabula Association of School Employees (AASE), is asking the community to help make Halloween a little more special for local children by donating new or gently used Halloween costumes.
The organizations are collecting new or gently used, clean Halloween costumes for grade school children. Donated costumes will be given to local students so they can take part in Halloween festivities and experience the fun of dressing up, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
Costumes will be distributed to students in grades K–4 at the Elementary Campus in time for their Trunk or Treat on Oct. 11, 2026.
COSTUMES NEEDED
The greatest need is for children’s sizes Small and Medium, with a limited need for X-Small. Costumes should be clean, complete and in good condition.

Donation Deadline: Friday, Sept. 25, 2026
“Halloween should be a fun and exciting time for every child,” said Lisa Bruckman, executive director of the Ashtabula County Council on Aging. “For some families, purchasing a costume just isn’t in the budget. By donating a costume your child has outgrown or no longer uses, you can give another child the chance to dress up, join in the fun and make some great Halloween memories.”
Community members are encouraged to check closets, storage bins and outgrown children’s clothing for costumes that are still in great condition and ready to be enjoyed by another child.
