As the new year rolled in, Paul and Agnes Tabor welcomed a new son, Gary, on Jan. 8, 1935. Although they may have had high hopes for their little son, they could never have imagined the talents he would express throughout his lifetime.
After graduating from Williamsfield High School, Gary married Darlene Fuller, of Dorset, a fellow classmate, at the Williamsfield Methodist Church in 1953. He was very involved in stock car racing during the late and mid-1950s and Darlene joined him in his interest even driving her own car. They especially enjoyed racing at the Kinsman Track and the one in Warren off North River Road.
Gary and Darlene had crops and animals, including milking cows, on their farm on Simons Road in Williamsfield. Gary continues to live there today. The garage part of their home was once the Simons Methodist Church and is attached to the house. The steeple can still be seen.
Gary and Darlene worked and played hard on the farm. Gary would take care of the farm chores and milking in the morning, travel to Warren from Williamsfield and work on welding and design, then travel home at night to do the night milking of 50 head of cows and chores.
