JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP – The Ashtabula County Technical and Career Center was awarded 5 out of 5 stars and exceeded state and federal standards in all evaluation categories in the latest round of evaluations from the Ohio Department of Education.
A-Tech was rated at 5 out of 5 stars in all categories, apart from Achievement, which moved from 3 to 4 stars this year, exceeding state standards for the 2025-2026 school year.
Achievement measures the skills and knowledge learned in student’s career-technical programs, according to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE).
“We’re proud to see the 5-star recognition for the second consecutive year. It’s a credit to the hard work of our students and the dedication our staff has to help each individual reach their full potential,” Scott Wludyga, superintendent at A-Tech, said. “We also hit the mark on all nine Federal Indicators for the second straight year. Those indicators include test scores for both traditional academic and Career Technical Webxams, as well as placement after high school.”
Wludyga also pointed to A-Tech’s having achieved this while investing in its students in a fiscally responsible manner.
“The financial data portion of the report card shows that A-Tech ranks number one compared to schools our size in the percent of funds spent directly on classroom instruction,” he said. “The data shows that the bottom line is when a student chooses to attend A-Tech, they are taking a step on the path to success.”
