Lakeland to celebrate 50th anniversary

KIRTLAND – Lakeland Community College is getting ready to celebrate 50 years of educating thousands of students in Northeastern Ohio with a big bang come Monday, Sept. 25, the official start of anniversary events in 2017-18.

LAKE COUNTY – Commissioner Dan Troy stated he thought it was time for the Board of Commissioners to commence talks with the Lake County Engineer’s Office about the future of the Vrooman Road Bridge Project at the Sept. 9 meeting.

PERRY - The Vietnam Combat Veterans Memorial, the “Moving Wall” will come to Perry High School at One Success Blvd. in Perry from Sept. 21 to 24. The exhibit will be open 24 hours a day. Viewing will begin Thursday, Sept. 21 at noon and the opening ceremony at 7 p.m. Closing ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.

Complaints spur proposed tree service registration law

MENTOR - Residential complaints about poor service by tree trimming and removal companies has spurred action by the city that is likely to require companies to register with the Mentor Building Department as do other kinds of contractors.

PERRY - Former Perry Youth Football player, Austin Quere, moved to Texas with his family and now plays for Huffman Youth Football. With the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, the Perry Youth Football League wanted to do something to take care of one of their own. Charlie Collins, who has a son on the Perry Youth Football team, is a commercial truck driver and offered to transport donations to Texas.
