Rival 5K is new race in Perry Village

Perry VILLAGE – A new race, the Rival 5K, will be held during a weekend when two well-known rivalries will be played out on the gridiron—one locally and one nationally.

Fire district awarded another grant

PERRY TOWNSHIP - Trustee Bob Dawson, who is on the Fire Board, reminded the trustees at the Aug. 22 meeting the Perry Joint Fire District had received a $76,000 grant for fitness equipment and gas and radiological meters last month.

Council advised on county drone program

PAINESVILLE – Captain Scott Mlakar of the Willoughby Fire Department gave Council a presentation on the county drone program and how it is used to assist safety forces at the Aug. 21 council meeting.

St. Gabe’s blesses new playground

Concord Township – St. Gabriel School is bouncing, jumping, and swinging into the new school year with an improved playground. With funds from the annual Walkathon, CYO Boosters, St. Gabriel School’s Parent Teacher Union, plus a lot of parent volunteers, the school put in a new patio with tables, new basketball hoops, a galaxy spinner, and a poured rubber fall zone.

Veterans Appreciation Day is coming up

PAINESVILLE – The 8th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day will take place at American Legion Post 336 at 60 Chester St. in Painesville from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15.
