Results in for Ashtabula hotel study, which calls for a 50-plus-room facility in the city

ASHTABULA – The results for a hotel feasibility study commissioned in February by Ashtabula City Council were announced by Ashtabula City Manager James Timonere prior to a July 3rd council meeting.
The study calls for a 50-room facility at one of four sites within the City of Ashtabula and amenities including a restaurant and 240-seat conference center.

ROCK CREEK – Village of Rock Creek Council members unanimously approved a motion to advertise for a July 24th public hearing at 6 p.m. to review the general dimensional requirements and permitted uses. A work session will follow the meeting.

New pianos to create music at Jefferson schools

JEFFERSON – Music from two new pianos will fill the air at Jefferson Area Local Schools, thanks to a purchase partly funded through donations from generous community members, including a large donation from an anonymous donor.

Christ Episcopal Church holds science-themed VBS

GENEVA – Geneva-area children at the Christ Episcopal Church Vacation Bible School held from June 26-30 learned some important lessons about science and its relationship to God.
The VBS, which was titled Maker Fun Factory, tied fun and games, science experiments and religious devotion together in an attempt to teach an important spiritual lesson for children, according to Lilly Claycomb, a congregant at Christ Episcopal and the VBS’ organizer.

Geneva Board of Education votes to send income-tax levy to Ohio Tax Commissioner

GENEVA – A proposed, one-percent income tax on residents of the Geneva Area City Schools District moved one step closer to appearing before voters on the Nov. 7th general election ballot after a vote by the Geneva Area City Schools Board of Education to submit the levy for certification to the Ohio Tax Commissioner during its meeting on Wednesday, June 28.
