Geneva-on-the-Lake Village Council moves forward with New Street project

GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE – A second reading for a resolution of necessity that will launch a project to replace sewer main drainage lines on New Street in the village as well as the roads and sidewalks along the street was held during a meeting of the Geneva-on-the-Lake Village Council on Feb. 6.

State Road Erie Bank branch opens Feb. 3

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP – The newest branch of Erie Bank, and its first full-service location in Ashtabula County, opened Feb. 3 to the public at 3606 State Rd. after a months-long construction beginning in May, 2016.

Ashtabula City Council commends local nine-year-old boy's heroism

ASHTABULA – Dry eyes were difficult to spot during a standing ovation following the presentation by Ward 5 Councilor Kris Hamrick of a commendation for heroism to an Erie Intermediate School fourth grader who, during a house fire at his West 41st Street home, broke out a bedroom window with his arm and rescued his two younger sisters – leading them across a porch roof to safety, and literally giving one the shirt off his back to keep her warm.

Jefferson Rec Center gets new equipment

JEFFERSON - The Jefferson Recreation and Community Center recently obtained a new piece of equipment in its gym aimed at being used by senior citizens or anyone with knee problems or limited mobility.
The new piece of equipment is a SciFit Step One Recumbent Stepper.

Yukon Café opens inside the Ashtabula Towne Square

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - The Greater Ashtabula Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of Big Dog Bounce’s Yukon Café inside the Ashtabula Towne Square Food Court on Saturday, Feb. 11, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
