Flag Day observed in Ashtabula

ASHTABULA – A small but passionate group of citizens gathered at Veterans Park on Wednesday, June 14, to honor the nation’s flag in what organizers said was the first Flag Day program in Ashtabula in many years.
The Rev. Bob Leonard or Hartsgrove Community Church acted as emcee and principal organizer for the Flag Day observance. Leonard is a member of the United War Veterans and a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War.

Geneva Farmers’ Market is open for business

GENEVA – Local farmers have turned out for a third season to offer their produce, meats and other farm products at the Geneva Farmers’ Market, which opened June 10 to busy foot traffic at the Depot Street parking lot.

Sanctuary of Geneva resident turns 100

GENEVA – A celebration was put on by residents, staff, family and members of the community to celebrate on Friday, June 2, the 100th birthday of a very special lady living at the Sanctuary of Geneva.
Marge Drought, a five-year resident at the Sanctuary and a founding member of the all-seniors Off Our Rockers band, actually turned 100 on June 4, but residents and staff thought she deserved a party in her honor at what she called “the next best thing to home.”
