SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP – The Ashtabula Area City Schools superintendent spent May 4 and 5 filling in, first as a classroom teacher and then as a custodian, to fulfill promises to a pair of contest winners in a door-decorating contest – part of the “Aim Higher” program highlighting college and career-readiness throughout the district.

Summer-Reading Program sign ups begin at HMPL

JEFFERSON – Start planning your summer reading-list, as sign ups have begun for the summer-reading program at Henderson Memorial Public Library, located at 54 E. Jefferson St. in Jefferson.
This year, the theme of the summer-reading program is “Build a Better World.” Sign-ups began May 8, and the program itself will last from June 5-30.

ADDA holds meet-and-greet at Richmond Transportation

ASHTABULA – An April 26th meeting of the Ashtabula Downtown Development Association paid a visit to one of its more recent members in Richmond Transportation, a husband-and-wife firm specializing in tourism and leisure transport throughout Ashtabula County and located at 5456 Main Ave. at the former location of Nassief Honda.

JEFFERSON - A small number of Ashtabula County voters went to the polls on Tuesday, May 2, but the turnout was enough to give the Ashtabula County Children Services Board some good news.

ASHTABULA – The Ashtabula Foundation held its third annual Youth Philanthropy Luncheon on April 28 at the Andrus Banquet Center, honoring area high school philanthropy clubs for their work in administering grants for the foundation as part of an outreach and educational effort by the nonprofit charitable group.
