NORTH PERRY – Women Helping Injured and/or Pregnant Military Mothers, Inc. (WHIPMM Inc.) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping female veterans by providing necessary (to go home with) care items for infants and their military mothers. The group offers assistance in transportation for post medical appointments, supply formula and diapers for infants, assist in paying for medical treatments or equipment not provided by the VA (and more).
WHIPMM Inc.’s Jail to Bail event proceeds will go to the one-year Operation Mammovan fund. Their hope is that this mission will fund a fully equipped mobile mammography and bone density unit for the over 10,000 veteran women in the area.
Register to “turn yourself in” or nominate someone to be “arrested” for the cause. Once “arrested” the “prisoner: will have as much time as needed to post “bail.” Call friends and family to help raise a predetermined bail all while having “three hots and a cot” but not really, ‘prisoners’ get three meals and a phone.
Friends and family can post bail online or in person via cash, check or money order and have a “last supper” with the “prisoner.”
The event will be a day of door prizes, raffles and fun. There will be a special gift for the person that raises the most “bail.”
“Prisoners” raising a minimum “bail” of $100 will receive a T-shirt stating they did time to combat cancer. Every “prisoner” will get a picture in “jail cell” to commemorate their time.
The event will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7.
To join in this fun-filled fundraising weekend or to nominate someone to get “arrested,” call the office or any of the staff and someone will return calls with details.
