ASHTABULA – Grand River Academy defeated the St. John Heralds 13-1 in a recent non-conference baseball game.
The Grand River Academy Eagles scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead over the Heralds. The Eagles added a run in the second inning to go up 4-0. Joe Mouldin would pitch four shut-out innings for the Eagles before giving up an unearned run in the fifth inning.
Grand River Academy added to their lead once again in the top of the fifth inning with three more runs, upping the score to 7-0.
St. John scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, making it a 7-1 game.
The Eagles put the game away in the sixth with six runs, making it 13-1.
Joe Mouldin earned the win for the Eagles with six innings of work allowing only one hit and one walk, while striking out ten.
Max Hammers took the loss for the Heralds.
Nate Severino had the only hit for St. John with a double.
Kutler and Burke each had two hits for the Eagles. Burke and Taylor each drove in a pair of runs.
