KIRTLAND - Bring the family and friends for a good time learning about how spring weather affects nature during Fun Day Monday at Penitentiary Gen Reservation. Stop by the Nature Center anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, April 17 for free, hands-on, interactive activities and crafts including weather outdoor trivia hunt, an indoor scavenger hunt, simple to complete weather craft, X-Plorer packs filled with hands-on seasonal activities, animal encounters from the Wildlife Center, s'mores by the campfire, snowshoe rental (weather permitting) and more.
There are many everyday free activities happening at Penitentiary Glen Reservation. Discover the sights and sounds of wildlife at the interactive Nature Calls exhibit. Watch and listen to birds and other wildlife outside through the Window on Wildlife. Visit the Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center to see the Lake Metroparks wildlife ambassadors, including hawks, owls and eagles. Enjoy a hike on more than 8.5 miles of scenic trails (open year-round).
The Nature Center and Wildlife Center are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Penitentiary Glen Reservation is located at 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Rd in Kirtland. The park features 424 acres of forest, fields, wetlands, and 8.5 miles of hiking trails and has been designated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife as a "Watchable Wildlife" site.
