Regional C. Gillespie
Feb. 5, 1935 - March 11, 2017
Regional Carl Gillespie, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 11 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born February 5, 1935 in Ashford, WV, the son of Henry and Mary (James) Gillespie.
Regional began working at a young age, and accomplished any task that was given to him. Before retiring, he worked in the dietary and maintenance departments at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He enjoyed spending his time fishing, drinking a beer or two, listening to country music, and playing his guitar. He could throw a rock at any given target, and hit it every time, but it is his presence that people will always remember.
Regional was the life of the party. His easy going personality, and ability to turn any situation into a fun time, is what drew people in, and it is that which we will miss most about him.
He leaves behind his wife, Lottie (Huffman) Gillespie; son, Robert (June) Gillespie; sister, Marcella Cox; step-grandchildren, Kayla Rought and Carly “Charlie” Tackett; and nieces, Deanna Woissol and Barb Harless.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carol (Detrick) Gillespie; sister, Iris McLemore-Miller; brothers, Robert, James, and Charles Gillespie; and his nephews, Burney McLemore and Dale Cox.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Burial at Edgewood Cemetery will follow.
