JEFFERSON - National Poetry Month is coming up in April, and the Henderson Memorial Public Library in Jefferson plans to celebrate it with its Annual Poetry Contest.
“Beginning Wednesday, March 1, we will be accepting poetry submissions for our National Poetry Month Contest open to ages 12 and up,” HMPL Adult Programming Coordinator & Circulation Manager Bev Follin said.
The contest is open to all Ashtabula County residents, and teachers are encouraged to submit groups of students’ work.
The contest is an opportunity for people to let their creativity flow, and maybe win a prize while they’re at it.
Participants may only enter one poem each. The entry must include the poet’s name, age and contact in- formation. Entries must be received by April 14.
On April 26, HMPL will host a Poetry Reading and Reception where staff will announce the 2017 winners in both young adult (ages 12-17) and adult (ages 18 and up) categories. The reception begins at 6 p.m.
A $50 Amazon gift card will be presented to the winner in each category.
