Updated: Lottery winners at the True North gas station claim their prize
JEFFERSON - Mary and Robert Hites, a couple from Jefferson, have come forward as the winners of a substantial lottery prize from the True North gas station in Jefferson.
Mary and Robert won a $1,612,840 prize after purchasing an EZPLAY Progressive Jackpot ticket in the TWENTY 20’s game on 3:43 p.m. Feb. 1, according to a media representative with the Ohio Lottery Commission.
“That’s the largest we’ve ever had for that specific game,” an Ohio Lottery official representative said. “That style of play is relatively new for the Ohio Lottery. We’ve found that customers really like the idea of jackpots.”
Mary told Ohio Lottery officials that she had a dream to play the TWENTY 20’s game.
“She’s a regular lottery player but didn’t know about this particular game,” the representative said. “It was her grandson’s birthday.”
Mary and Robert split the prize equally.
“They’re going to have a nice weekend,” the Ohio Lottery representative said.
