Perry officials sworn in
PERRY TOWNSHIP – Newly elected officials from the Perry entities gathered at the Perry Community Center Dec. 28 to be sworn into office by Painesville Municipal Court Judge Michael Cicconetti.
“It was 24 years ago when I got elected to this position,” Cicconetti said. “I was running against an incumbent judge and the results were coming in and it didn’t look like I was going to make it.
“I thought I had to win Madison in order to win the election and I lost Madison … Painesville Township, of course, I won and it was close in the other areas.”
He said he was about to accept defeat when his sister called with the news that he did very well in the three Perry communities which helped him win the election.
Cicconetti noted he had just been elected to his sixth term.
He commented that Perry Township was also special because it hosted his court garden where people planted, weeded and harvested to do community service ordered by the court. He thanked Wally Siegel, who just retired as township administrator, for his assistance with the garden through the years.
Cicconetti then began swearing in the officials.
