ANDOVER – On Friday, Feb. 10 PV Middle School PTO will be beginning preparations for their annual Chinese Auction fundraiser by offering the public the option of purchasing $5 entrance tickets for this year’s event. (From Feb. 10 edition of The News)
According to PTO Member/Event Organizer Barb Culp, tickets for their 2017 Chinese Auction, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 11 at PV Middle School, will be available to purchase directly at the school, at Andover Bank, at The Wright Place, at Andover BP and at PV Administration Office.
Culp furthered added that PV MS PTO will be selling only 600 tickets this year for the occasion, but will also have options for the public to purchase additional Chinese Auction tickets which come in sheets of 26 raffle tickets and one hold ticket for a fee of $2.
Anyone interested in attending this year’s PV MS PTO Annual Chinese Auction can expect to try their chance in winning approximately 500 grand prizes, a 50/50 raffle, a grand raffle of three larger items, as well as two penny raffles, which will be available to the public when the doors open at 3 p.m. followed by the auction at 6 p.m.
“Attendees may want to bring a plastic zip lock bag or cup to hold their tickets as they travel through the event,” said Culp.
PV Middle School’s PTO Annual Chinese Auction will also offer options for attendees to purchase food, which Culp said changes each year but tends to include nachos with cheese, hot dogs, vegetable trays, chips, pop and water, candy bars and ice cream. As the Chinese Auction nears closer PV Middle School PTO will be looking for volunteers interested in collecting prizes for the event from businesses or who are willing to donate items to go into specific basket themes that PV Middle School homerooms are putting together, which she said will be available to view on the school website and Facebook page.
Culp said that students that attend the middle school will also be given the option of contributing cash to their homeroom teacher who will use the funds to shop for items necessary to finish the baskets.
Above all else, Culp said she is grateful for anyone willing to help out or donate gifts towards the cause.
“It is touching to know that people enjoy an event so much that they want to do more than just attend,” said Culp. “Every year we have wonderful people who just show up at the middle school with a donation, just because they wanted to. Those are special people.”
This year’s proceeds from the auction Culp said will go towards purchasing and installing acoustic tiles in the gymnasium and in the past they have used funds from their events to build a playground and outdoor basketball court, to provide computers for student use, to purchase stage curtains, to acquire blinds for the cafeteria, to obtain a large screen and projector for school use, to pay for field trips for each grade level, to provide classroom incentives and rewards, as well as to purchase educational magazines, along with supplies requested by staff.
